By Hendriëtte van der Walt posted Oct, 2017

The DST/Mintek Nanotechnology Innovation Centre (NIC) hosted a Nanotechnology Facility Tour with The South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) on 29 September 2017 on the Mintek premises in Randburg.

The tour was open to all, with local universities and companies participating.  The attendees were told about the facility and its role toward applying nanotechnology to address south african and africa specific problems.  This was followed by a physical tour of the facilities and engagement with the scientists that make the magic happen.

7th SANi-NYRS Symposium 2017

By Hendriëtte van der Walt posted Sept, 2017

The South African Nanotechnology Initiative (SANi) will be hosting its annual Nanosciences Young Researchers’ Symposium (NYRS) at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) on 20 October 2017 at the Pretoria West, Main Campus.

This year’s theme is “ Nanotechnology For The 21st Century Challenges”.

The event creates an opportunity for young researchers to come together, showcase their research to the broader science community and receive some feedback on their projects.

The previous event, hosted at Mintek in 2016, was a great success, with over 200 delegates from academia and industry, with 39 student presentations in the form of oral, short pitch and poster presentations; participating toward the further development of our young, up-and-coming scientists.
